Animals depend on humans to be there voice so please make a difference and give animals your voice

Educate yourself, write letters to your politicians, sign petitions, make a donation, go vegetarian/vegan and stop wearing animals and buy products from cruelty free companies only.

Canadians must speak out to stop the passage of ineffective, outdated animal cruelty legislation from being passed in our House of Commons.

To see how your MP voted, pleased visit www.dontbecruel.org. We encourage you to send your MP a letter of praise or disappointment, based on how they voted.

The CFHS worked extremely hard over the last several years to convince Parliament to oppose Bill S-203 and concentrate on introducing effective legislation to fix the loopholes in the current law. We thank humane societies, SPCAs and other animal protection groups, as well as the many thousands of passionate and dedicated Canadians who joined in the fight by writing, phoning and emailing their MPs asking them to vote this bill down.

We will continue to push for good legislation, like MP Mark Holland’s bill C-373 http://cfhs.ca/law/federal_legislation

   Bill S-203:

  • makes it difficult to prosecute cases of neglect, even when dozens of animals have been starved to death
  • allows the training of animals for dog fights, cockfights or other types of animal fighting fight other animals
  • permits killing stray or wild animals for no particular reason
  • provides extra protection for cattle and other animals and less protection for stray or wild animals
  • doesn’t make it a crime to kill animals brutally or viciously
  • considers animal cruelty a property offence
  • doesn’t offer specific protection for law enforcement animals

  • WRITE TO THE PRIME MINISTER AND TO YOUR MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT. Click here for a sample letter. You can use it as is, but personalized letters are more effective  you can send your letters to:
